Deloitte advisors provided technical assistance to Afghanistan’s Kabul Electricity Directorate (KED) in their efforts to improve the operational performance. More specifically, our team worked to modernize and strengthen the organizational and human capacity of KEDs financial management, human resource management and ICT. Project objectives were to help KED reduce electricity losses and improve operational efficiencies and transparency with an aim of reducing the cost of service. In doing so, access to electricity can be expanded while government subsidies are reduced. Government funds that are not spent subsidizing the cost of electricity can be invested in other development priorities.
