Meet Jim Nason
Partner, Deloitte Tax LLP
Jim Nason, Partner, Deloitte Tax LLP, leads the Deloitte Tax U.S. Industry Leader for Telecommunications.
Jim earned an undergraduate degree in accountancy from Bentley University in Waltham, Mass., and a master’s degree in taxation from the University of Hartford. He has in-depth knowledge of the telecommunications sector, including more than five years of experience working as a Director of Multistate Taxes – Research, Policy and Planning, for one of the world’s largest telecommunications providers.
Since joining Deloitte, Jim has built on his sector knowledge and experience to provide guidance for companies in the communications space. Jim’s experience includes income, franchise, sales and use taxes as well as specialized assistance for mergers, acquisitions, dispositions and restructurings. He is a specialist in providing industry advisory services and for assisting clients in their development and implementation of tax policy. He devotes much of his time to identifying, researching, and implementing tax planning ideas to help companies reduce their tax burden, and providing business advisory services for a broad range of U.S. and global communications clients.
“The rapid pace and constant change in this sector spurred by technological advancement has blurred what it means to be a communications enterprise,” Jim notes. “New and oftentimes reluctant entrants into the sector are impacting the fabric of the communications landscape.”
Jim believes Tax practitioners at Deloitte are differentiated by their sector experience. “At Deloitte, we embrace industry and endeavor to deliver value and experience for clients. We believe that it is critical to not only understand the communications industry from the outside in, but to understand a client’s business from the inside out.”
