Mobile-Banking: Can Elephants and Hippos Tango?

Publish date:

Cross-industry convergence between banks and mobile providers can transform existing businesses and generate compelling new services to end-users. However, making banks omnipresent and transforming cell phones into pocket-sized bank branches requires smart business and sound partnerships between the banking and mobile industries.

In the article "Mobile-Banking: Can Elephants and Hippos Tango?" Satish Raghavendran, associate vice president, Deloitte Research, and Divakar Goswami, executive manager, Deloitte Research, share their views on the potential that mobile banking offers to both banks and mobile carriers. Acknowledging the inherent difficulties of convergence between these two large and very different industries, they evaluate a spectrum of partnering options and suggest leading practices. The partnering options evaluated in the report range from go-it-alone strategy to exclusive and open partnerships.

Considering the next generation of service offerings, both these industries will have to evaluate an effective partnering model that will allow them to rapidly achieve critical mass and offer superior customer value proposition. Only then will they be well-positioned to establish brand leadership.

To learn more on how the union of these two giant industries can result in achieving dominance, innovation and cost reduction in the mobile-banking space, please download the report below.
