Finance Diagnostic for Technology

High-value, low-effort insights for meaningful improvement

The 2010 Deloitte Global Benchmarking Center (GBC) study of technology companies found that a cost savings opportunity of $8.8 million per billion in revenue exists between the median and low-cost performers, with much of the savings opportunity occurring in process costs — labor and outsourcing. Other key themes of the study include the impact of economies of scale on finance organizations and the effects of automation and differing service delivery models.

By measuring internal strengths and weaknesses — and comparing them against “best-in-class” performance of industry peer companies — this study helps executives to identify and mitigate gaps that have the potential to impair the performance of both the finance function and the entire business.

More than 80 clients have participated in the Finance Diagnostic study in the last 12 months. This study has proven beneficial to clients looking for opportunities to improve the efficiency of their finance organization. The study examines 25 core finance processes across 5 process categories including transaction processing, financial reporting, controls, tax and treasury and performance management.

How will my company benefit?

The 2010 Finance Diagnostic provides high-value, low-effort insights that clearly identify improvement opportunities. We compare your company’s process efficiencies, costs and cycle times against your technology peers. Your company will be compared to other technology companies that submit data for the 2010 study, ensuring results reflect the current industry environment. We encourage clients to participate annually, so that performance can be tracked year over year.

How does it work?

We have structured the benchmarking process to be painless for our participants. Each client is assigned a client service representative to guide them throughout the process. We estimate data collection to take between two to four days.

What do I receive?
At the study’s conclusion, participants receive the following:

  • An executive-level report comparing your company’s results against the low-cost performer and median of the technology peer group
  • Results briefing to highlight prioritized opportunities
