Craig Giffi of Deloitte LLP is a vice chairman and the U.S. Automotive Sector Leader. Craig is also the leader for the U.S. Consumer & Industrial Products Industry practice, the chairman of the Global Manufacturing Industry practice of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (DTT) and a principal with Deloitte Consulting LLP in the United States.
In his current capacity, Craig is responsible for organization-wide services for industry sectors including automotive, aerospace and defense; chemical and process; industrial products; consumer products; and retail. In his global manufacturing industry role, Craig drives strategic initiatives to build eminence, grow Deloitte’s industry practice networks, and embed industry knowledge in services to global clients across the sectors. Craig also serves as a senior advisory partner for our services to some of our top 100 manufacturing and consumer business clients. As chairman of DTT’s $3 billion Global Manufacturing Industry practice, Craig directs global efforts on manufacturing industry thought leadership designed to help clients stay ahead of issues impacting their industry. Craig became a Deloitte principal in 1991 and has held various leadership positions within the Firm. Over the past decade, Craig has been the lead client service partner for a major global auto OEM and a large global manufacturer of construction equipment, leader of Deloitte Consulting's Global Manufacturing Industry Practice, and prior to that, he led Deloitte Consulting's Enterprise Application practice in the Americas. Most recently, he was the global managing director for DTT’s Strategic Client Relationship Program. In this role, he helped to lead the organization's top 1000 client program and create initiatives to enable global account teams to deliver service excellence across borders.
During his career with Deloitte, Craig has also served on several internal leadership committees including the Deloitte Consulting Global Board of Directors and DTT’s Client Service Excellence Committee, and Deloitte’s CEO Leadership Team.
Craig has primary responsibility for Deloitte’s participation as a member of the Council on Competitiveness working with industry CEOs, university presidents and labor leaders to shape the debate on competitiveness. He is also a trustee of The Manufacturing Institute helping to drive thought leadership regarding manufacturing’s contributions to the American economy and participates actively with the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) on their efforts to shape the debate on the issues impacting manufacturers in the United States and around the globe.
Currently, Craig is leading a multi-year Global Competitiveness in manufacturing initiative in partnership with the Council on Competitiveness with the objectives of establishing a competitiveness index for countries and their manufacturing sectors based on industry CEO input, and determining the new models for success for the 21st century being adopted by the most capable and competitive global manufacturers.
Craig has a BSBA degree in production and operations management and a M.B.A. in finance and operations management from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business. He is the co-author of the book Competing in World Class Manufacturing – America’s Twenty First Century Challenge (Business One Irwin) and has been quoted in feature articles for Fortune Magazine, Business Week, Industry Week and numerous other professional trade magazines. In addition, Craig has co-authored numerous articles for journals including the Deloitte Review, a semi-annual publication. Most recently, Craig co-authored a joint Deloitte Research study, Made in North America, in conjunction with The Manufacturing Institute and the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters Association which focuses on the productivity, competitiveness and profitability of North American manufacturers. In addition, Craig leads the joint Deloitte-Manufacturing Institute annual Viewpoint of Manufacturing Index, which assesses the view of the American public on the manufacturing industry. Craig has been a guest lecturer for the M.B.A. program at the Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well as Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. Craig also serves on the Deloitte Review editorial advisory team.
Prior to joining Deloitte, Craig worked for Eaton Corporation where he was a senior manufacturing systems and operations analyst.
