The Company We Keep: Deloitte Diversity Sponsorships

Sponsoring large marketplace events allows us to build our brand, attract new talent, learn best practices and give our employees opportunities to build relationships in the marketplace.

Deloitte sponsors a number of organizations that share our interest and commitment to strengthening an inclusive workplace through programs, and research. These activities give our professionals opportunities to gain knowledge and expand their networks and also provide us with another way to attract new talent. As part of these relationships, we help fund research and programs that build community and support career development for people of diverse backgrounds.

Some examples of our current sponsorships include:

DiversityInc

DiversityInc is a prime source for best practices and solutions to workplace diversity related challenges. Our sponsorship enables us to expand our recruiting efforts as well as demonstrate our commitment to diversity in the marketplace. In addition, we leverage DiversityInc’s benchmarking data and analysis to increase our awareness of the most progressive strategies companies and firms are employing, so that we can continue to be a true diversity leader.

Working Mother Media

Working Mother Media is solely focused on the challenges and tradeoffs that can impact working mothers and women of color. From their magazine to their robust website and inspiring conferences, Working Mother is a key resource for Deloitte to better understand these challenges and provide opportunities for our people to leverage these resources. We are also an ongoing, premiere sponsor of the Working Mother Multicultural Women’s conference, as well as a sponsor of the Working Mother 100 Best Work Life Congress.

Catalyst

Catalyst works with businesses to build inclusive workplaces and expand opportunities for women in business. Through research, Catalyst provides valuable insight and is on the forefront of important issues related to changing workforce dynamics. Through this relationship, we demonstrate our shared commitment to advancing women in the workplace.

Center for Talent Innovation and Task Force

The Center for Talent Innovation drives groundbreaking research that leverages talent across the divides of gender, generation, geography and culture. The Task Force for Talent and Innovation responds to the challenges posed by the research and creates action such as spearheading best practices around retention and acceleration. As a co-chair of the Task Force, we are part of a group of through leaders in the area of talent management and are able to deepen our understanding of how we can enrich the careers of our talent.

Howard University Partnership

Deloitte continues its partnership with the Howard University School of Business, the historically Black institution of higher learning in Washington, D.C. In 2005, we joined other accounting and consulting organizations to help Howard’s Center for Accounting Education launch an annual Leadership Development Program, “We’re About Success,” to help first-year Black professionals prepare for the CPA exam.

Human Rights Campaign

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization that envisions an America where LGBT people are ensured of their basic equal rights, and can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community. We work with HRC to understand the issues and challenges LGBT professionals may face in the workplace to continue to sustain an inclusive environment where all our people can bring their authentic selves to work.

Leadership and Education Development Program (LEAD)

Each year, we sponsor a number of high-performing high school juniors of color at the Leadership and Education Development (LEAD) Summer Business Institute at the University of Illinois. The students participate in a four-week intensive program at the university and are given a real-world view of the professional services industry, and Deloitte in particular. Using the case study method, students tackle real business problems, analyze business issues, and gain insight into the dilemmas of major corporations. More importantly, they get their first glimpse inside a professional environment.

Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT)

MLT is a national non-profit dedicated to developing the next generation of Black, Hispanic/Latino and Native American leaders in major corporations, non-profit organizations and entrepreneurial ventures. Deloitte is proud to sponsor MLT to help build the pipeline of minority talent.

Institute for the Future

The Institute for the Future (IFTF) is an independent nonprofit research group that works with organizations of all kinds to help them make better, more informed decisions about the future. IFTF provides the foresight to create insights that lead to action.
