IMPACT Day 2013

Creating real and measurable impact isn’t just a goal – it’s an imperative

IMPACT Day 2013
This year marks Deloitte’s 14th annual IMPACT Day, a celebration of our longstanding commitment to our communities. On IMPACT Day, Deloitte encourages its 45,000+ people nationwide to make nonprofits their top clients for the day by setting aside their work and contributing their time and talent.

Tens of thousands of Deloitte personnel volunteer on approximately 800 community service projects in 80 communities. Each project is organized by local Deloitte personnel and designed to meet the needs of the nonprofits it supports, and many of these events are an extension of our year-long commitment to those organizations.

In 2013, approximately one third of IMPACT Day projects called upon our people’s professional skills through events that addressed a range of social issues. Examples of skills-based projects that took place across the country included:

  • In Atlanta, Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Seattle, nonprofit leaders sat down with Deloitte professionals to discuss their organizations’ biggest challenges. These “scoping sessions” helped the nonprofits shape future, successful pro bono projects.

  • In Dallas, 100 leading nonprofits joined Deloitte leadership to discuss how to fuel growth through strategic planning, budgeting and project management.

  • In Los Angeles, Deloitte collaborated with USC’s Center for Innovation and Research on Veterans & Military Families to help leaders of veteran-focused nonprofits better serve the Los Angeles area.

  • In Washington, D.C., volunteers at the National Veterans Center participated in training programs to help veterans further develop computer and job interview skills and transition from military life to a civilian career.

  • Over 150 volunteers around the country worked with The Posse Foundation and their scholars, outstanding leaders from urban communities who will receive full scholarships to college. These scholars, who are about to leave for college, heard Deloitte professionals relate their experiences on what to expect while away at school, how to stay focused and how to prepare for success in school and their future careers.
