Dana Swanson Switzer's Online Journal: Week 3

Cultural differences

The Swazi way

The Swazis' relaxed culture is an attraction to visitors and a must for those who live here. However, trying to get a large project done in one month is difficult in this environment. I am used to 24/7 Internet access, quick response times and demanding deadline drivers. Even while I am being told everything is fine, and it’ll come in due time, I can't help but feel the pressure of one more full week of work before I head back across the big lake and leave the organization with what I hope is a strong project.

This weekend, despite the self-induced pressure, we are heading on a trip to South Africa that was planned for us by one of the Gone Rural "sons." It'll be our first trip out of Swaziland and our second camping experience. I'll be sneaking in some reading material for the road trip, but otherwise I hope it will be a nice break on an African safari!
