Our people know a good thing when they see it – which is why they have been volunteering with College Summit to help this “good thing” get even better.
College Summit is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the college enrollment rate of low-income students across the country by ensuring that every student capable of succeeding in college makes it to college, regardless of economic background. Our people have not only volunteered at College Summit summer workshops, but they have also been engaged in an ongoing high-impact pro bono project to help College Summit increase its capacity to help more students.
A team of 15 Deloitte Consulting practitioners, led by Humbelina ("Humby") Sanchez, have been working alongside six professionals from College Summit, to developing a reporting warehouse to give College Summit the means to more efficiently measure the success of their programs, as well as enable the analysis of what programs and methods are most effective in encouraging students to go to college.
Humby says, “This is a great way to get involved with a pro bono initiative at Deloitte. I’ve been impressed with the College Summit organization in general and their passion for their cause and giving back to their community. I feel privileged to help them and drive the technology effort around this endeavor.” She adds, “I’m very proud of Deloitte for being able to provide these services and for giving back to the community – I think it’s a great idea.”
J. B. Schramm, founder and CEO of College Summit, appreciates both our dedication and our skills. He says, “Deloitte’s commitment to our organization and what we are trying to achieve has been outstanding. Deloitte’s problem-solving expertise and volunteer passion are already helping College Summit advance to the next level.”
Part of the bigger picture
Our core business is to build stronger organizations for our clients. When we do this for nonprofits, it’s the essence of our community involvement strategy at work.
"Our relationship with College Summit is a great example of our overall community involvement strategy," says Evan Hochberg, director, National Community Involvement, Deloitte Services LP.
