Capacity-Building Philanthropy

Community involvement is local. That’s why, by and large, our philanthropy is targeted to unique local needs. Each year, we give millions of dollars to nonprofit organizations in these areas.

In order to make a deeper impact that is aligned with our strategy of contributing intellectual capital to help nonprofits enhance their capacity, we launched the Problem Solvers Fund. It is a large-scale national grant program, to which our own people apply, to support them in focusing on critical social issues where we can make a significant impact.

To receive funding, our offices must demonstrate that a project:

  • Has a clear and compelling social impact
  • Leverages its people’s intellectual capital to address the need
  • Positions our organization as a leader in the effort
  • Has strong local commitment
  • Has business value for our organization

“We’ve always supported local causes, but with the Problem Solvers Fund, we can make large-scale local investments in major social issues affecting the future of our community. This gives us the ability to make a deep and lasting impact.”

- Tara Weiner
Philadelphia Managing Partner, Deloitte & Touche USA LLP
