Deloitte Budget Championship 2012


We live on a continent where youth, knowledge and learning are keys to progress. Deloitte in East Africa are therefore providing an opportunity for the “future generation” to grow and develop through the 2nd East Africa Deloitte Budget Championship.

Deloitte in East Africa continues to work across borders to find the best people and make it easy for them to make their voice be heard.

This is the second year that Deloitte in East Africa is conducting the budget championship and is excited to hear the voices and opinions of passionate graduates.

The objective of the essay competition is to encourage graduates to explore theories and practical issues facing them as they prepare to enter their career journey.

We invite you to participate in the regional essay competition on the topic of strategic forward thinking and providing innovative solutions. We ask you to identify the major strengths and weaknesses of a professional services firm. If you were the CEO, what three things would you change and why?

Students are invited to write an essay in English. The number of words should be between 1,000 and 3,000. Abstracts and key words should also be provided.

The essays should be submitted to with the subject line: EA Budget Championship

The competition is divided into two categories: Undergraduates group and Graduates group.

The reviewing procedure is divided into two stages. Five papers will be shortlisted in the first stage. The writers will be invited to make a presentation before the judges in the second stage.

The judges will select the best essays.

Students studying for full-time programs in universities are eligible.

Cash prizes and trophies are awarded to the winners. All participants receive certificates of participation.

In addition, the winner from each country will qualify for a full time internship program at Deloitte in East Africa and will also be invited to the Deloitte East Africa Budget Seminar in June 2012.

The winning essays for each category will also be published on and the East African Budget Insight recognizing the finalists.

Adjudication panel
The panel comprises partners and managers of Deloitte East Africa. Their decision is final.
