Deloitte is the official auditor of The X Factor televised singing contest
Kyiv, 27 November 2012
Global professional services firm Deloitte has been chosen as the official auditor of The X Factor, a nationwide singing competition broadcast by STB TV channel. The X Factor, which originated in the United Kingdom, is one of the most popular televised talent shows globally. The programme has proved equally popular in Ukraine, where it is now in its third season. Anyone can take part in the competition to showcase their singing talent to the whole nation.
During the final rounds of The X Factor, broadcast live, viewers support their favourite acts by casting a phone vote or by sending an SMS. Each week, the two acts who receive the lowest number of votes will face a jury of four music industry professionals, who then decide which act leaves the show. The results of the popular vote are strictly confidential, with only the names of the two least popular contestants being passed to the show’s presenter, Oksana Marchenko, before she reads the names out live.
Deloitte professionals will be monitoring the vote-counting process with great care, and will guarantee that the results declared are fair and correct.
“It's a pleasure to serve The Х Factor, one of the largest and most popular shows in Ukraine,” Andriy Bulakh, Partner at Deloitte, commented. Andriy says the contestants win the affection of millions of people; each act generating a large fan base. “Each performer receives thousands of votes. Each vote counts, and a single vote may decide the fate of a performer.”
Deloitte will audit the results of each public vote during the show, including for the final of the series when the winner, who will receive a recording contract worth UAH 2 million, is determined and announced.
“In large scale shows like The X Factor, the voting process is very important as it expresses the love of the public for the participants and their faith in them, which is the key to the success of this project. Therefore, we are meticulous about the vote counting procedure and the selection of a reputable and reliable partner,” said Oksana Bolkun, Project Manager for The X Factor.
Deloitte is also the official auditor of the vote counting for the Ukrainian national YUNA music awards, the Choice of the Year awards for the highest quality goods and services in various commodity markets internationally, and the Odessa International Film Festival. Deloitte also ensures transparency during the vote-counting process for the international GRAMMY awards.
