Deloitte sponsors the First International Annual Business Conference “Ukraine & Partners”
On 13-14 June the First International Annual Business Conference “Ukraine & Partners”, sponsored by Deloitte, took place in Kyiv. The conference was organised on the initiative of Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, and attended by a large number of representatives of government office, the business and academic communities, financial, banking and investment institutions and diplomatic missions. During the two-day span of the conference, around 3,500 people representing more than 1,500 Ukrainian and international companies congregated at the venue, with participants having arrived from 62 countries all over the world.
The conference involved a total of 16 panel discussions and round tables, dedicated to some of the most topical issues concerning the economic development of Ukraine. The event participants also discussed ways of increasing investment attractiveness, ensuring energy independence and the stability of the financial system, the most efficient ways of employing the potential of certain industries (such as agriculture and transit), programmes stimulating the introduction and practical application of high technology in domestic business, and the implementation of key national projects.
The conference was aimed at improving the investment climate and image of Ukraine, creating an ongoing communication platform for government, the business community and investors, developing high-level partnerships with the EU, CIS and world economies, attracting investment in key areas and industries, and many other issues.
A state reception was held on the first day of the event for a very limited number of participants, and was attended by the Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov. Several Deloitte partners were also present at the reception. The second day of the event began with a Business Breakfast, at which Mykola Azarov was also present, along with top managers of leading investment, financial and banking institutions and business structures, as well as Vladimir Vakht, Managing Partner of Deloitte in Ukraine, Belarus and Georgia.
Vladimir Vakht moderated panel discussions on the topic “investment and business opportunities to develop the infrastructure and fulfil the transit potential of Ukraine”.
“All agreements are based on the idea that the investor will get his/her money back in the form of proceeds from implementing investment projects", said Vladimir Vakht.
Victor Lukashuk, a Deloitte partner and the leader of the Financial Services Industry Group, participated in panel discussions on the topic "the financial sector of Ukraine: trends and prospects". Other Deloitte partners present at the conference included Arthur Ohadzhanyan, Dmitriy Anufriev, Mykhaylo Melnyk and Natalia Samoilova. Inna Kulyk, a senior manager at Deloitte, also attended.
As the conference’s founders intended, the International Annual Business Conference “Ukraine & Partners” will be conducted every year, and will provide a space for the government and business to cooperate to find ways to improve the global competitiveness of the Ukrainian economy. This was the first event of its kind, and we hope that next year’s conference will also be a huge success.
