Deloitte named official auditor of the YUNA music awards for the second consecutive year
On 15 March 2013 the 2nd annual YUNA* music award ceremony was held at Ukraina Palace, as the top musicians in Ukraine gathered to decide who had been the best of the best in 2012. The nomination categories included “Best male artist” and “Best female artist”, “Best song”, “Best video”, “Best lyricist”, “Best composer”, “Discovery of the year”, “Best album” and “Best band”.
For the second year running, global professional services firm Deloitte ensured the fairness of the vote-counting procedure at the YUNA awards. “It is a great honour for Deloitte to be chosen as the auditor of the YUNA music awards for the second year in a row”, commented Andriy Bulakh, a Partner at Deloitte.
According to Mr. Bulakh, YUNA is unique in Ukraine and is picking up momentum. “We understand how important fairness, objectivity and trust are for the national awards, as they serve as a guideline for cultured professionals. We are doing everything possible to ensure that not even the slightest doubt can arise in regard of the transparency of the vote-counting procedure", he added.
"It is impossible to overestimate the role of Deloitte – a guarantor of reliability and fairness of voting procedure,” said Pavel Shylko, the general producer of YUNA. “The filled out questionnaires were directly submitted to Deloitte by the jury panel. During the YUNA ceremony Deloitte representative handed over sealed envelopes with voting results immediately prior to the initial award ceremony. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Deloitte and hope for our further cooperation,” noted Pavel.
The nominees and award winners were determined by the votes of a panel of jurors comprised of music industry professionals who, while not involved in the process of creating music, have each been involved in the industry for over five years. To ensure the fairness of the vote-counting, Deloitte representatives collected the ballots and counted them themselves, keeping results a complete secret. Sealed envelopes with the names of the award winners were handed directly to the presenter during the award ceremony.
