Deloitte to sponsor fifth annual Adam Smith Forum – Agribusiness in Ukraine |
Deloitte will sponsor the fifth annual Adam Smith Forum – Agribusiness in Ukraine, held from 12 until14 March 2013 at the Intercontinental Hotel. The forum is expected to attract representatives of agricultural companies from all over Ukraine to discuss the most topical industry issues.
The topics being discussed during the forum include the following:
- Growth and expansion strategies (effective investment, talent management, etc.)
- Assessing farm holdings and attracting financial resources
- Risk management
- Land reform
- Securing the supply of food
Richard Crane, a Partner at Deloitte UK, will visit Kyiv to deliver a report dedicated to investment and solving the key problem of raising financing for the agricultural sector. The issue of finding and raising funds to develop agricultural enterprises remains one of the most pressing challenges currently faced by those in management.
Mykhaylo Melnyk, a Partner from Deloitte Ukraine, will be at the event to act during the discussions as moderator on the subject of searching for the internal resources needed to develop the agricultural sector – namely, strategies aimed at increasing the efficiency of business processes in agricultural companies. “Today, developing agricultural holdings and increasing land holdings doesn’t immediately lead to success in performance results. The most important role is played by the effective management of available resources, process optimisation and lean production,” said Mr. Melnyk. According to him, the most important factors for achieving effective management within a company is getting the correct structure, clearly defining procedures, and ensuring personnel are chosen carefully and are well-qualified. To develop each of these components, there is a need for relevant international experience and the elaboration of sophisticated processes to build a successful company.

During its operations in the Ukrainian market, Deloitte has successfully implemented a number of projects, including financial and legal due diligence, consulting services, and audits of IFRS-compliant financial statements.
