The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Doha Chapter, organized a professional seminar on “Financial Risk Management”, on March 2, 2009 in Doha, Qatar. The seminar was addressed by David Traylor, a principal with Deloitte & Touche (M.E.), who serves as Global National Oil Company Leader. David is an expert in the development and execution of business strategies in the oil & gas industry.
1st Annual Compliance and Anti Money Laundering Seminar
Deloitte was the exclusive professional consultancy sponsor of the 1st Annual Compliance and Anti Money Laundering Seminar, held in Riyadh on the March 24-25, 2009. Arabian Travel Market
Arabian Travel Market was held on May 5-8 in Dubai. ATM is a travel and tourism exhibition dedicated to unlocking the business potential within the Middle East region. Rob O’Hanlon, partner for the Tourism, Hotel and Leisure industry at Deloitte in the Middle East, gave a speech at the event which spanned ME hotel performance activity as well as the increasing level of ME/Africa tourism activity.
Deloitte 3rd international tax seminar
At a time when many tax systems throughout the Middle East are undergoing changes and there is an increased focus on how tax charges affect net profit in financial statements, Deloitte's Middle East Tax Conference brought together top industry specialists to explore the region-wide implications. The conference was held on May 12-13 in Dubai.
World Economic Forum
The 2009 World Economic Forum on the Middle East convened over 1,200 business, government and civil society leaders in Jordan from May 15 to 17. Held under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, discussions focused on the theme “Implications of the Global Economic Crisis for the Middle East: Home-grown Strategies for Success”. Deloitte was a partner of this event. Omar Fahoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Deloitte in the Middle East, participated in the panel discussion on financial markets during which it was assessed whether an early warning system based on macro prudential surveillance can help anticipate future financial market exuberance.
IFRS seminar Doha
Deloitte in Qatar held a one-day seminar on June 17, 2009 to share its leading expertise on significant, imminent changes to International Financial Reporting Standards, as well as to explore some of the more complex financial reporting issues in the wake of the current economic conditions.
