Art Of Success

What do art and business have in common?

The Art of Success is a joint project of Deloitte and five contemporary visual artists, who have many things in common despite their individualities: youthfulness, creative thinking and, last but not the least, responsible attitude to work.

We contacted them and offered cooperation because we are fascinated by talent in all fields of human activities and we like to participate in its development. And because their values, such as empathy, intuition, endeavour, knowledge and a sense of strategy, are in accordance with our values.

Under the project, the individual visual artists were free to create a representation of one of the values, which are shared by their art and our business. One of the visible results of our cooperation is the travelling exhibition.

Artistic “Generation 200X”

They are at an age where many of them are still looking for the right path to follow. However, they have already achieved such success, for which some people wait their entire artistic career, and their exceptional talent and distinct opinions cannot be overlooked in the field of visual art.

They have the chance to become the spokespersons for their generation. A generation, which is open to foreign influences and innovative views, which knows no boundaries and advocates non-traditional approaches.

Perhaps this is the reason why they so often choose the open-minded paths of postmodernism, neo-pop or street art. They take the strongest elements and combine them to create something new, something stronger.

They do so with a provoking naturalness and healthy disrespect. After all, their world is formed by information. Under the onrush of information, one often cannot do anything but put on an ironic grimace – behind which, however, we can feel the joy achieved from the game, the pleasure derived from the moment.

Try to perceive it because their creations have things to tell not only about them but, more importantly, about the present that they have created for all of us.

ZEAL

...to strike within oneself a fire that gives inner strength and reduces obstacles to ashes...

Ladislava Gažiová
(* 1981, Košice, Slovak Republic)
Academy of Fine Arts, Prague, Painting Studio of Vladimír Skrepl
This laureate of the fi rst year’s Critics Prize has come into her own in the community around the independent art club Galerie A.M. 180. She is interested in urban pop culture and works – often ironically – with such means of expression as the comic strip, graffiti, street art, but also advertising and fashion fetishes.

COURAGE

...to step over one’s shadow, leave the boundaries of the familiar and set out for the unknown...

Martin Gerboc
(* 1971, Bratislava, Slovak Republic)
At the exhibition „The Best Off“ he summed up his work with thematic cycles reflecting evil, violence, brutality and death. He renders these things in expressive figural compositions, frequently with a pronounced socio-critical undertone and emphasis on the relation between reason and the senses.

KNOWLEDGE

...to let oneself by driven by the desire to know, stimulate approval with willingness and cement it with knowledge...

Evžen Šimera
(* 1980, Praha, Czech Republic)
Academy of Fine Arts, Prague, Painting Studio of Vladimír Skrepl
This finalist of the Jindřich Chalupecký Prize and winner of the Critics Prize practices his own technique of „New Dripping“, which is controlled geometric dripping of colour on a surface as originated by the legendary Jackson Pollock. He welcomes deviations from the original intent in the belief that even chance is coordination...

VISION

...to attach a signifi cance to dreams, to find and define one’s faith, and mark out one’s own way...

Jitka Mikulicová
(* 1980, Hustopeče, Czech Republic)
Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design, Prague
The distinguishing feature of the works of this artist, twice a Critics Prize finalist, is sarcastic and ironic treatment of little everyday stories. Jitka often looks from a distance or even uncompromisingly at general human values, manifesting at the same time sensitivity and an extraordinary sense of reality.

INTUITION

...to go beyond the boundaries of human senses, hear the native voices and follow their guidance...

Miroslav Polách
(* 1980, Čeladná, Česká republika)
Academy of Fine Arts, Prague, Studio of Professor Jiří Sopek
The priority in the work of the Critics Prize 2009 finalist is the arrangement of large picture surfaces in which elements of expression attractive in formal and colour terms intermingle dynamically. He does not hesitate to use simple signs of consumer pop culture, advertising logos, billboards or traffic signs.
