Traditionally, Deloitte employees devote one day a year to charity work, but they do so in a slightly different way – through voluntary work. This year, some of Deloitte’s staff joined residents of the Malči Beličeve children’s home in celebrating the end of the school year by having a picnic, while others donated blood.

As part of the Impact Day initiative, Deloitte employees throughout the world spend one day doing community service. Deloitte’s advisors and auditors thus devote a day to charity work, spending it far away from their offices, mobile phones, conference calls and meeting rooms. Yesterday, as part of the Impact Day, Deloitte Slovenia took part in two activities.
We often say that children are our most valuable assets and our future. Sadly, not everybody gets a happy childhood, and due to a broken home some children are socially and developmentally disadvantaged. Children whose parents are unable to provide for them for various reasons find shelter at the Malči Beličeve children’s home. To show them they are not alone and brighten up their day, Deloitte’s employees joined residents of Malči Beličeve in celebrating the end of their school year by having a picnic. To burn excess energy, various games were organised, including the standard football tournament, tug of war, dodge ball, a game of darts and bowls.
Because Slovenia experiences periodic shortages of blood, a third of the staff went to the Blood Transfusion Centre of the Republic of Slovenia to donate blood.

Impact Day has been part of Deloitte’s culture since 2000, with employees of Deloitte Slovenia joining the initiative last year by donating blood and socialising with residents of the retirement home at Bokalci. Through its Impact Day activities, Deloitte wishes not only to improve relations with the local community but also promote the culture of volunteering among people and companies.

About Deloitte
“Deloitte” is the brand under which tens of thousands of dedicated professionals in independent firms throughout the world collaborate to provide audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk management, and tax services to selected clients.  These firms are members of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, a Swiss Verein (“DTT”).  Each member firm provides services in a particular geographic area and is subject to the laws and professional regulations of the particular country or countries in which it operates.  DTT helps coordinate the activities of the member firms but does not itself provide services to clients.  DTT and the member firms are separate and distinct legal entities, which cannot obligate the other entities.  DTT and each DTT member firm are only liable for their own acts or omissions, and not those of each other.  Each DTT member firm is structured differently in accordance with national laws, regulations, customary practice, and other factors, and may secure the provision of professional services in their territories through subsidiaries, affiliates, and/or other entities.

Deloitte Central Europe is a regional organisation of entities organised under the umbrella of Deloitte Central Europe Holdings Limited, the member firm in Central Europe of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. Services are provided by the subsidiaries and affiliates of Deloitte Central Europe Holdings Limited, which are separate and independent legal entities. The subsidiaries and affiliates of Deloitte Central Europe Holdings Limited are among the region’s leading professional services firms, providing services through nearly 4,000 people in more than 30 offices in 17 countries.
