Our Invitation

In April 2013, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (“MAS”) issued MAS Notice No. 126, Enterprise Risk Management (“ERM”) for Insurers.  The ERM requirements and guidelines in the Notice set out how insurers are to identify and manage interdependencies between key risks, and how these are translated into management actions related to strategic and capital planning matters.

A key requirement of the Notice is for an insurer to perform its Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (“ORSA”) at a minimum, annually. This is to assess the adequacy of its risk management, and current and projected future solvency position with a time horizon which is consistent with that used in its business planning.  When undertaking its ORSA, the insurer needs to document the rationale, calculations and action plans arising from this assessment.

You are cordially invited to our executive breakfast briefing to hear Mr Terry Mezger share his views on ERM framework including undertaking the ORSA process and production of related reports. The following topics will be discussed:

  • Elements of ERM framework
  • Risk Identification and Measurement
  • The specifics and extent of changes to comply with the regulatory requirement
