Dr Kamal Mannar

Data scientist

Kamal Mannar is a data scientist with the Deloitte Analytics Institute, focusing on the development of advanced analytics and operations. He has led the development of analytics-based solutions across a number of industries such as healthcare, government, energy, law enforcement, and telcos, focusing on real-time analytics and big data analysis combining both structured and unstructured data. In his more than six years of experience in the US and Singapore he has worked in multi-disciplinary teams focusing on the application of analytics to emerging areas such as smart grid networks, national healthcare systems, and social media.

He holds a doctorate in industrial and systems engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has more than 10 journal and conference publications and 8 granted/filed patents in the area of advanced analytics. He was also an invited speaker at the SAS M2010 Data Mining conference in Las Vegas to talk about advances in the application of analytics for predictive asset maintenance.

Career highlight

Kamal led the development and launch of the first real-time predictive asset maintenance algorithms monitoring critical imaging equipment (CT and MRI) in more than 50,000 hospitals globally. These automated solutions, combining real-time signal processing and accurate predictive algorithms, helped to significantly reduce patient disruption and improve the utilisation of critical and expensive equipment.  In so doing, Kamal’s solutions resulted in better healthcare delivery and reduced clinical costs.
