Deloitte launches Regional Management Organisation to serve Asia Pacific Financial Services Industry Tax Clients

Singapore, 14 June 2013 — In response to growing demand by the Financial Services Industry (FSI), Deloitte today announced the launch of its Asia Pacific FSI Tax Regional Management Organisation (RMO). The RMO will transform the service experience for FSI clients in Asia Pacific through a team of regional lead tax partners (RLTPs) and industry-focused professionals. The Deloitte RLTPs will lead regional tax projects for clients and manage the delivery of tax services by local tax specialists.

“Our regional model mirrors the organisation of many of the FSI clients and delivers what FSI clients demand – that is, tax projects that must be regionally led but locally delivered. The RMO, our regional FSI tax leaders, and our local tax specialists will do that for FSI clients," said Alan Tsoi, Deloitte’s Asia Pacific Regional Managing Director – Tax & Legal.

With increasing emphasis on Asia Pacific as the region driving global growth, Ellie Patsalos, Global FSI Tax Leader for Deloitte, said: “Financial services clients in the region regard success in Asia Pacific as success for their entire firm. A regional management organisation is especially critical in Asia Pacific as it allows seamless execution of tax strategies and compliance, which often requires close regional coordination and delivery through subject matter specialists in each country. The RMO evidences Deloitte’s response to this unique necessity.”

The RMO will be led by Jim Calvin, Deloitte’s Asia Pacific FSI Tax Leader. Jim brings with him 27 years of tax advisory experience, having served FSI clients both in the US and Asia Pacific. He is also Deloitte’s regional leader for advisory related to the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). The RMO also includes Regional Tax Leaders Patrick Yip and Carl Church both based in Hong Kong, and Michael Velten based in Singapore. In addition, the RMO is supported by approximately fifteen regional tax professionals who are based throughout the region.
