National Oil and Gas Forum
Deloitte participated in the inaugural National Oil and Gas Forum, which took place from 19 to 21 March in Moscow. The forum was organised by the Russian Federation Ministry of Energy in collaboration with leading business unions – the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation – and industrial unions – the Union of Oil and Gas Producers of Russia, and the Russian Gas Society. Following the success of the forum, the organisers plan to make it an annual event.
The key issues addressed at the forum include the long-term milestones and goals of the oil and gas industry, the development of the energy market’s infrastructure, innovation and energy efficiency, an analysis of fiscal policy, the creation of a competitive market environment, improving the accuracy of hydrocarbon price forecasts, the effects of volatility on macroeconomic variables and foreign trade policy, environmental standards, and the security of the energy industry.
Deloitte Partner Elena Lazko was a delegate at the first day plenary session, which focussed on Russia’s national strategy.
The second day was devoted to discussions on various topics. Deloitte was honoured to have a speaker’s slot at the event, during which Deloitte Partner Andrey Panin gave a presentation entitled, “Russia’s Shelf: a future that is hard to explore.” Other speakers and participants joining Andrey included Vitaly Markelov (Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee, Gazprom), Anatoliy Zolotukhin (Vice-Rector for International Relations, Gubkin Oil and Gas University), Ilya Mandrik (Vice President, Lukoil), Gennady Shmal (President, Union of the Oil and Gas Producers of Russia), and Alexey Knizhnikov (Extractive Industry Environmental Policy Officer, WWF Russia), along with executive representatives of Rosneft, Bashneft, Statoil and ExxonMobil.
