Maintenance process enhancement

The efficiency of maintenance and repair management is a key issue for the majority of industrial enterprises.
The current level of equipment depreciation at the majority of RF enterprises exceeds 60%; furthermore, the historically established maintenance and repair management system, which was designed for the guaranteed manufacture of the required volumes without account of expenses, has become unusable in conditions of market economy.

During the implementation of performance optimization projects for international and Russian companies, Deloitte consultants developed their own methodology for the improvement of the maintenance and repair management system which includes three consecutive stages:

  • Analysis of current problems and deviations from target maintenance and repair management system (benchmark model).
  • Development of target management model for maintenance and repair of enterprise (categorization of equipment, identification of maintenance and repair management strategy for each category, adaptation of processes, tools and organizational structure of company).
  • Implementation of target management model for maintenance and repair.

The new maintenance and repair management system must cover various aspects of the company's operations; its creation must be based on innovative approaches to the differentiation of equipment and the creation of an organizational structure of a repair service.  Furthermore, a significant part of the maintenance and repair system includes new budgeting and planning processes, repair works, budget form templates and record documents of work completed as well as methodologies for the management of spare parts and relationships with contractors.
