Gubkin University and Deloitte CIS begin cooperation |
Moscow, 18 December 2012. Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas has entered into a non-commercial partnership agreement with Deloitte CIS.
The key points of the agreement include:
"The University’s collaboration with different companies provides benefits to both sides, as it enables the University to involve experienced professionals that are aware of contemporary methods and applied tools in the educational process. In turn, the companies get the opportunity to perform fine control over the educational process of future engineers. This is embodied in the competence of our graduates – as a result of their hard work and participation in various internships at real production sites, they get acquainted with the "laws of the market" during their studies at University", said Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University.
Elena Lazko, the Leader of the Deloitte CIS Oil and Gas industry group, added: "We realise how unique the potential of Russia’s foremost industry-specific university is, and we are interested in not only developing and recruiting the students of today, but also implementing a policy of long-term cooperation aimed at developing future generations of oil and gas specialists. Thus, upon signing this agreement, we are going to start cooperating in various directions."
Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas is Russia’s leading higher educational institution of petroleum engineering. The Government has always valued the work of the University, bestowing on it numerous honours, such as the Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1945), the Order of the October Revolution (1980), the Order of Friendship of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (2000), the Order of Labour of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (2010), and a Letter of Appreciation from the President of the Russian Federation (2010). 38 graduates of Gubkin University have been awarded the Lenin Prize in scientific and technical fields, and over 300 graduates are named among the winners of the State Prizes of the USSR and the Russian Federation, being granted RF Government awards. Various towns, enterprises, institutes, research vessels and oil and gas fields have been named after Gubkin University staff and graduates.
More than 90,000 specialists and PhDs have graduated from Gubkin University since 1930. The University is currently actively implementing innovative educational methods and interdisciplinary approaches. The University has reconstructed its infrastructure for distance training through full-scale online training equipment, computer models and systems.
Nowadays Gubkin University is home to students from 83 Russian regions and 65 countries from all over the world. One in every nine students has come from overseas to study at the University, which is also actively developing international master degree initiatives together with major global universities.
