Central Europe Top 500 companies

Compiled on the basis of their revenue

CE Top 500.

The list of Top 500 companies from 18 Central European countries has been compiled on the basis of their revenue from sales in 2008. Besides the general Top 500 list, Deloitte has created the lists of Top 50 banks and Top 50 insurance companies in the region. This is the third consecutive year that Deloitte, based on its expertise and international network of offices, published the CE Top 500 list which has by now become relevant indicator of economic forces in the region.

This year’s list confirmed the domination of energy and resources companies. First place on the list is yet again taken by the Polish oil giant PKN Orlen, followed by Hungarian Mol and Ukrainian Metinvest, which is also the best placed representative of the manufacturing sector. Energy and resources industry companies, 151 in total on the list, are followed by consumer business industry companies, transport industry and manufacturing.

The Top 500 list contains several Serbian companies. Out of six Serbian companies listed, the best positioned company is NIS found at the 28th place with EUR 3,725 m revenue of sales revenue, followed by EPS (96), Delta M (101), PTT Srbija (125), US Steel (183) and Srbijagas (287).

Deloitte has also ranked Central European banks and insurance companies by total assets and gross written premium, respectively. Two largest insurance companies from Serbia found their place among the 50 most successful: Dunav osiguranje (46) and DDOR Novi Sad (50). Unfortunately, there are no Serbian banks among the Top 50 banks in Central Europe.
