Deloitte sets up Cluj-Napoca office

Cluj-Napoca, May 7, 2008 – Following its strategy to get closer to clients and better explore local business opportunities, Deloitte has officially opened its first regional office, in Cluj-Napoca.

Over the past few years, the Cluj county has gained reputation of being an extremely interesting and lucrative investment opportunity. This impressive growth which is expected to continue has already been matched by increased demand for professional services.

“In view of this reality, we are going where our clients need us. Local offices provide more efficient and faster services. We are confident our Cluj-Napoca location will soon leave up to expectations, generating a significant contribution to our turnover, in the following years”, said George Mucibabici, Chairman Deloitte Romania.

The new office will provide specialized Audit & Advisory and Tax & Legal services to private companies and public institutions. László Tandel, Senior Manager Audit & Advisory Services, Deloitte Balkan Cluster, will be in charge with running the business in the region. “Our team, though yet small, will surely spread the good reputation of our firm through the quality of our work and services rendered to local and regional clients. We are confident that on a medium to long term basis this approach will pay out and will be also visible thought our results as well.”

Located in the modern office building Cluj City Center at 14-16, Calea Dorobantilor, the office spreads a 300-sqm area and is currently employing three people. By autumn, the team will expand to include up to 20 audit and tax specialists. “Cluj-Napoca is an important university center and provides a large pool of graduates from top universities. These young talents represent our target. We believe Deloitte will soon be perceived as an important Employer of Choice in the region”, Tandel added. Deloitte’s expansion nationwide will continue this year, with a focus on Romania’s most important cities. While the financial cost is significant, the firm believes the human resources effort to be much more significant.

“We are a people business and therefore our main focus is human capital,” stressed George Mucibabici. “Worldwide, Deloitte and its specialists need no introduction as a Big Four firm. Over the past 15 years we have managed to create a similar reputation in Romania and in the Balkans. So far, our performance has mostly been the result of our Bucharest team. It is time to take our expertise closer to our clients, beyond the Capital limits, and set up real centers of excellence for this business all over the country.” Last year, Deloitte Romania reported a turnover of more than 27.5 million Euro, up 45% compared to the previous year. The firm has approximately 360 employees.
