Arab Media Outlook 2011-2015

Partnering to bring value to the media world

We are pleased to inform you that Deloitte ME has contributed to the Fourth Edition of the Arab Media Outlook (AMO) Report, as research and analyst partner. Over the years, the AMO report has gained a solid reputation of being the definitive publication covering the media industry in the Arab region. Enriched by interviews with 140 industry stakeholders across 17 markets covering all the major platforms, this publication highlights the changing media landscape, shifts in consumption patterns and projected revenues from advertising, print copy circulation, online and pay-TV until 2015. Working closely with the Dubai Press Club (DPC) team, we have appreciated their professionalism and valuable input which have served to enrich this edition. The Deloitte team has leveraged on its extensive global network of media industry professionals.

Section 1 of the report provides an analysis across all significant platforms, highlighting trends and showcasing regional success stories benchmarked against international case studies. This section also sheds light on emerging business models and some of the key challenges facing the media industry in the region.

Section 2 provides and in-depth analysis of 4 key markets i.e. Egypt, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and UAE. This section is supported by market research conducted across these markets which provide useful metrics for understanding the evolution of media consumption across the Arab region. The second half of section 2 covers an overview of the remaining 14 markets including the Pan-Arab advertising market. The analysis for each country gives an overview of trends across the key platforms and projects the growth of net advertising spend in the market.

As with past editions, Section 3 covers a thematic topic. This year’s topic is titled ’The Media Revolution’, which focuses on the impact of the political uprisings on the media industry drawing heavily on the role of the online news outlets and satellite TV channels in the coverage of events

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the research and analysis that allowed us to prepare and finalize this report. We are proud to have supported the Dubai Press Club and thank them for granting us the opportunity to collaborate on this project.
