Are we headed towards branchless banking? |
Branchless Banking (BB) is a strategy of distribution channels which provide financial services. It extends the concept of the traditional bank branch through the growth and development of technology.
Although the BB concept can stand alone as a strategy of distribution channel, completely independent and isolated from the traditional branch-based model, it can also complement an existing network of branches, so that clients can be offered a wider variety of channels to access their financial services. In general terms, the BB model’s aim is that encourage clients to use banking services regularly (and even during longer times) without the need to physically go to a traditional bank branch.
This publication, from Deloitte Argentina, explains the concept of Branchless Banking and discusses examples in the UK and in Latin America.
