February 2nd, 2010 - Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, the global advisory organization of which Deloitte & Touche (M.E.) is a member firm, has been honored by the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) with a prestigious BEST Award for 2009. In the words of ASTD, the award recognizes organizations that “leverage the learning function as a strategic business tool to achieve enterprise-wide success; [those that] create, support, and champion learning opportunities for results and a learning culture.”
“Our people in the Middle East benefit from over 15,000 global and regional classroom and e-learning programs, in addition to the firm’s support to achieve professional qualifications, with the aim of developing their skills to deliver specialized services to our Middle East clients. This is part of our commitment not only to our clients but to the youth and talented professionals in the region. We are very pleased that our programs were given such an excellent stamp of recognition by a leading independent learning association like ASTD,” said Omar Fahoum, chairman and chief executive of Deloitte in the Middle East
Roger Nasr, partner in charge of Learning at Deloitte in the Middle East added, “The quality of our people is the only value we have to offer the marketplace, so we are squarely focused on development solutions that will lead to meaningful outcomes for our clients as well as our people. Some of our learning and development activities that supported winning the ASTD award include worldwide use of the Deloitte Learning Platform, utilization of the Deloitte Virtual Classroom, on-boarding programs for new and experienced hires, the application of the Global People Survey to assess people’s engagement, and the new program, Certified to Serve, which helps client-service professionals acclimate to new project teams.”
