Mr. Asad Ali Shah, Senior Partner of Deloitte Pakistan, has been elected as Chairman in twenty-sixth session of the Intergovernmental Working Group of Experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting (ISAR) of UNCTAD, United Nations, being held from 7 to 9 October 2009 at Palais des Nations in Geneva. ISAR is the largest international group of accounting community, under the aegis of the United Nations, which endeavors to enhance the quality of financial reporting, corporate disclosure and transparency. Besides experts from government (such as personnel from Ministries of Finance, Auditor General's departments etc.), participants include representatives of global standard-setters, regulators, professional bodies, organizations such as IFAC, IASB, and European Union (EU).
Mr. Shah is currently the Board Member of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and was the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan for the year 2008-09). He is a Senior Partner and the leader of Audit and ERS in Deloitte Pakistan. He has also remained the Chairman of the Group on Corporate Governance of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA).
