Our Story

We have been on a journey to embed innovation as a discipline and practice into our New Zealand business since 2009. Our business is subject to disruption and competitive pressures in the same way as the clients we serve. We see innovation as a key component of our success, both today and in the future.

Instead of treating innovation as a one off activity or a project focussed on a specific idea we decided to embed innovation as a core component of the way that we operate as a business. We have given it an identity within our business, we have allocated resource to it and we have built it into the way that we operate.

The key aspects of our innovation activities include:

  • Processes that allow manage the flow of ideas through the elaboration and implementation steps.
  • Tools that allow our staff to submit ideas, collaborate on these ideas and to engage in innovation.
  • A culture programme aligned to how we work to ensure that we are building innovation into the DNA of our business.
  • A clear communication plan that tells our innovation stories and celebrates where we are having success.

We have seen a large number of projects come through the formal innovation process and go through to implementation. Perhaps more encouraging is the level of activity that we see happening on a day-to-day basis. A change is occurring within Deloitte, it is powered by innovation and it is focussed on delivering a difference to our clients.
