As the leader behind some of New Zealand’s business leaders, we understand the difference between management and leadership, and we see the difference that outstanding leadership makes throughout the business and wider communities. Deloitte’s involvement with Excelerator reinforces our brand and signals our commitment to leadership for the development of the whole country. At the same time it allows us to benefit from cutting edge research and support in developing the leadership skills of our own people at Deloitte. www.excelerator.co.nz
Committee for Auckland
The Committee is a not-for-profit private sector organisation seeking to leverage influence in the enhancement and development of Auckland as an exciting and dynamic place to live. It was formed in January 2003 and has now established a broad membership base, of which Deloitte is one, bringing together individuals from a wide range of sectors involved in, and passionate about, Auckland. Until his departure to take up the role as Global Managing Partner, Climate Change and Sustainability, the previous Deloitte New Zealand Chairman Nick Main sat on the Board and had been involved on the Committee’s initiatives such as working with the City Mission to develop low cost accommodation for the city’s homeless, facilitating the ‘Building better schools through business partnerships’ project and providing input into the economic development of the ‘Metro’ project. The Committee has also played a part in the current review of Auckland’s governance structures, and Nick was actively involved in that process.
Dean Ellwood continues Deloitte's involvement as a Committee for Auckland member, and has assisted with the Iwi Business Consortium. Matt McKendry has participated in the Building Better Schools work stream through his involvement at One Tree Hill College. Deloitte has also had a number of attendees on the Future Leaders programme. www.aucklandnz.org
