Transforming strategy into a successful operating model

The Target Operating Model supports you with making the right strategic choices to improve the way your organisation, business processes and IT work. Frequently asked questions are:

  • How do we change our organisation according to the new strategy?

By using a TOM design Deloite can support you in finding solutions for the various strategic challenges that your organisation faces. Our practice can support you with a range of operational transformation challenges:

  • Strategic reorientation: Implementing changes in operations to obtain alignment with a strategic reorientation program (e.g. outsourcing, shared services, growth & innovation tracks)
  • Strategic cost reduction: Review of all processes and systems in order to identify opportunities for long term strategic cost reductions
  • Local transformation: Implementing changes in operations to enable system migrations, mergers of functions/departments, local cost reduction programs, etc.
  • Consolidation of an acquisition: Integration of (departments in) an organisation after a recent acquisition or merger
  • “Getting the house in order”: Assessment whether the current organisational design fits the chosen strategy, in light of the current market environment

How do we cooperate with you?

Deloitte has developed a specific approach to realize a successful TOM project. This approach is a structural way to design a Target Operating Model tailored to your organisation. During the project we will work in close cooperation with you and the experts within your organisation. This approach has been applied successfully at various organisations, different strategic questions, and within various market environments; from multinationals to SME’s. The approach consists of 3 phases, in which several steps an implementation scenario will be chosen as the optimal model for realisation:

  • Phase 1. “What are we doing?”
    Draft and analyse the various TOM options
  • Phase 2. “How will we do it?”
    Evaluate, select and refine the optimal TOM option
  • Phase 3. “When will we do it and why must we?”
    Draft the implementation plan and roll out the new organisation and processes
