Tax Update - December 2011

The Minister of Finance tabled the Income Tax, Value-Added and Stamp Duty Bills in the National Assembly on 17 November 2011. Deloitte hosted an interactive session to our valued clients to discuss the impact of the proposed amendments. Discussions included amongst others:

  • Withholding tax on payments to non-residents;
  • Sale of mineral rights and licenses;
  • Ring fencing for certain trades;
  • New procedures and penalties on provisional taxes; and
  • VAT implications on the supply of medical and paramedical services.
