IT strategic planning review for a leading co-operative bank in Malaysia

Why was Deloitte engaged?

The client provides complete Islamic banking facilities for the co-operative movement besides being a stable financial institution capable of providing a full range of banking and financial services. As a financial institution, the client’s main aim is to improve the economic status of these co-operative members with its main objective to make profit and to expand further in the industry. This project is to assess whether the client’s SISP is aligned with the objectives of the bank’s business plan and the ICT initiatives are able to support the needs of the stakeholders and bank’s growth the few years ahead.

How did Deloitte add value?

Deloitte was engaged by the client to review and perform a benchmarking exercise on its IT infrastructure and review the IT strategic plan. The engagement involved reviewing the current IT infrastructure and core applications in meeting future expectations of the bank, its customers and users. In addition, Deloitte obtained a general understanding of whether the bank’s IT directions are in line with industry trends in the financial services industry.

Deloitte provided recommendation on the completeness of the client’s SISP based on Deloitte’s strategy framework. We identified the aspects of which the SISP needs to address the transition of the current ICT organisation in order to be the Strategic Business Advisor of the bank.
