Why was Deloitte engaged?

The client, a government agency,  was mandated to enhance the participation of Malaysian manufacturers, SMEs in particular, in the global supply chain. The study involved developing strategies and action plans to assist SMEs penetrate into the global supply chain. Deloitte was engaged given our combined strength in conducting industry studies and strategy  development, as well as our strong connections with local industry players.

How did Deloitte add value?

The study identified the key success factors for Malaysian companies to export their products overseas. The study also identified segments within the value chain suitable for Malaysian companies to invest and grow.

The study included conducting stakeholder interviews and a workshop with key industry players across the selected industries. The engagement team also received insight and guidance from Deloitte’s global supply chain expertise. Deloitte provided the client with the main thrusts and outlined action plans for each identified industry sector, to encourage more Malaysian companies to go global.

Why was Deloitte engaged?

The client, a quasi-government agency, has been tasked with spurring the development of the Bioinformatics and the Value-Added Systems Integration (VASI) industries in Malaysia. Deloitte was engaged to develop a 5-year strategic roadmap to spur growth within each of the identified industries.
Deloitte was engaged given our strong ongoing relationship with the client organisation, and our access to global industry expertise in the Life Sciences and Technology industries.

How did Deloitte add value?

For both industries, Deloitte identified the local and global industry landscape, Malaysia’s value proposition  as well as the development of a 5-year strategic roadmap. Our approach involved conducting desk and secondary research, stakeholder interviews with industry leaders and trend-setters, and tapping into the insights and experiences of Deloitte’s global Life Sciences and Technology subject matter experts.

The roadmap provided the client with specific programmes and initiatives to be implemented to achieve its objective of developing each respective industry.

Why was Deloitte engaged?

Our client was in the exclusive stage of negotiating the acquisition of a financial securities company in Vietnam, and engaged Deloitte to provide commercial and financial due diligence services. Our client chose Deloitte due to our prior experience and strong financial industry relationships in the Vietnamese market, and our ability to suitably assess the target company’s capabilities and the market opportunities available, to develop a suitable business plan for the merged entity.

How did Deloitte add value?

Deloitte provided a detailed analysis of the Vietnamese market dynamics, conducted primary and secondary research and assessed operational capabilities across the target’s business units. Our report included a roadmap for the merged entity’s market entry strategy into the Vietnamese market. Our report helped our client to assess and make a final decision on the purchase of the acquisition target.
