Pact for Mexico
Tax Alert 08/2012
On December 2, 2012 representatives of the three main political parties in Mexico, and President Enrique Peña Nieto, signed an agreement entitled “Pacto por México” (Pact for Mexico). The idea behind this Pact is to establish a political agreement under which the Government commits to take some administrative actions at the same time the political parties will, together, promote reforms to the current legislation or even approve and enact new laws.
Within the various commitments included in the related document, there are two particular items that are discussed here: one relates to taxation and the other specifically referring to the mining industry.
