Business Barometer Survey 12

Year 2009 was marked by a flurry of important events in Mexico, from swine flu virus outbreak, oil revenues decline because of decreasing production, public spending cuts and wide fiscal deficit, to liquidation of Light and Power Company, the approval of federal budget including boost tax collection aimed to increase the nation’s funds; government ministries restructuring within the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA); Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), and the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), and fight intensification against organized crime, among other facts.

In troubled times special measures are required and notwithstanding the turbulence around the business environment, participants to the survey revealed that there are always opportunities for those companies that are prepared to be successful regardless of the economic environment.
