Corporate social responsibility archive 2011
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) addresses how a firm manages its business processes to generate stakeholder value while having a positive impact on the community and minimising any adverse impact on the environment. Professional behaviour is driven by our firm’s vision, mission and values. Deloitte (Malta) is contributing towards the community in a variety of ways. CSR activities for 2011 include:

In March 2011 Deloitte staff once again volunteered their time and energy to Dar Qalb ta’ Gesu’. This was held in conjunction with Alf. Mizzi & Sons (Marketing) Ltd, Arrow Pharm, Enemalta, Malta Enterprise, Vassallo Builders, HSBC, Knights of Malta, JCI, Farsons, Tumas Group and Gasan.
Mark Micallef – Supervisor took part in the Lifecycle Challenge 2011 in August this year. Deloitte has kindly opted to choose the Gold sponsorship towards this cause.
In February, the marathon was ran with the aim of collecting sponsorships which will be shared between Caritas Drug Rehabilitation Centre, Puttinu Cares For Children Fund, Creche Ursoline Sisters, Angie Bajada, REAACH (Malta Autism Centre) and Hospice Movement.
A session on Back Care was organised for employees on 14 January 2011.
A session on Healthy Eating Habits was organised for employees on 13 April 2011.
A session on non-smoking and cessation was organised for employees on 28 June 2011.
The Reaching Out Committee collected a significant amount of money in aid of charity during Easter, at the July 2011 Barbeque and at the December 2011 Christmas Lunch.
Monthly funds were collected from Dress Down Days.
Deloitte staff organised a party for the children of Volunteers of the Order (VOTO) on 7 December 2011. This party was held at the Deloitte premises together with children of Deloitte staff, where Christmas presents were bought for each child, courtesy of Deloitte.
A Blood Donation Drive was organised in 2011 where Deloitte staff joined forces in this noble cause.
Toys and clothes were donated by Deloitte staff members to Get Up Stand Up – a Maltese Non-Governmental organisation dedicated to promoting peace, love and unity. They run projects in the immigration field to promote human rights and friendship amongst all cultures. They are also passionate about striving for social change in other areas too. Their limited resources mean their action in these other areas is restricted to supporting other organisations.
