Since July 2008, the Basel Committee for Banking Supervision has begun to design the path to the new regulatory framework for capital requirements (so-called “Basel III”).
At European level, it has been transposed into three Directives (CRD II, CRD III and CRD IV, the latest being still under discussion) that will start reshaping the risk and capital management practices in financial institutions as from December 2010 (for CRD II).
