Annual conference on "La qualité au service des patients" - 17/01/2013DOWNLOAD
In association with the Fédération des Hôpitaux Luxembourgeois (FHL), Deloitte Luxembourg held its second annual conference dedicated to the Luxembourg healthcare & life sciences sectors on 16 January 2013, bringing together over 85 experts of the local market, including Mars Di Bartolomeo, Minister of Health and Social Security as special guest.
The conference was introduced by Mars Di Bartolomeo, Gilbert Renel, healthcare & life sciences co-leader at Deloitte Luxembourg, and Paul Junck, President of the FHL.
Gilbert Renel explained the current status of the industry: “The healthcare industry is undergoing a fundamental transformation, evolving from a supply-driven one to a demand-pulled one. It faces numerous challenges, such as increasing demand from patients, tighter cost constraints, fast-changing technology, accelerating globalisation and increased availability of medical and organisational data.”
Luc Brucher, Deloitte’s healthcare & life sciences co-leader, further highlighted the increasing link between the health care industry and life sciences in his presentation.
The various and significant challenges and trends which these sectors are facing were futher covered during 3 different round tables moderated by Paul Junck, Frank Gansen, Premier Conseiller de Gouvernement, Commissaire aux Hôpitaux du Ministère de la Santé, and Dr. Jules Hoffelt, Président du Conseil Médical du Centre Hospitalier du Kirchberg debating the various issues of concern to the overall industry.
Luc Brucher summed up: “These challenges are dramatically increasing the pace of change in the industry with impacts on the organisation, governance and leadership of healthcare entities. They also, however, carry significant opportunities which, as epitomised by the varied representations and discussions at the round tables, will not just come from within the sector, but through increased cooperation with other sectors, notably life sciences”
