Peter Thal Larsen is Assistant Editor of Reuters Breakingviews, the award-winning provider of financial insight. Based in London, he oversees coverage of global banking and financial regulation. He also appears regularly as a commentator on the BBC, CNBC, Sky News and Reuters Television.
Prior to joining Reuters in June 2000, Peter spent 10 years at the Financial Times. Most recently, he was the FT’s banking editor, leading the paper’s award-winning coverage of global banking during the credit crunch. In that period he reported extensively on the financial upheaval and efforts by regulators to shore up the financial system.
Between 2000 and 2004 Peter was based in New York, first as the FT’s Wall Street corresponden, and later as the US Communications editor. He played a leading role in the paper’s coverage of the 9/11 attacks and their aftermath.
A Dutch national, Peter has degrees from Bristol University and the London School of Economics.
