Deloitte Tech Trends Report 2013 - 28/06/2013DOWNLOAD
Last year, both Apple and Google Play surpassed 25 billion app downloads. As of December 2012, 13% of all Internet traffic originates from mobile devices. These facts proclaim the rapid growth of mobile technology as has been observed in the 4th Annual Tech Trends Report of Deloitte ‘Elements of Postdigital’, which identifies the top 10 technology trends believed to have the most probable impact on business over the next 18 to 24 months.
“The objective is to reflect how evolving technology landscape and volatile market forces are affecting the complex nature of our clients’ business problems,” said Patrick Laurent, partner in advisory and consulting and technology & enterprise application expert. “We must embrace the postdigital era. Our report outlines the core technology trends that have the most potential, for which organisations should consider developing an explicit strategy.”
The report examines the convergence and controlled collision of five forces: analytics, mobile, social, cloud and cyber. Deloitte’s annual report takes a look at the drivers of the ever-evolving landscape of technology that can be put to use by businesses as they move toward a more postdigital enterprise. At the core of achieving this vision, the trends are divided into two categories: ‘Disruptors’ are opportunities that can create sustainable positive disruption in IT capabilities, business operations, and sometimes even business models, and ‘Enablers’ are technologies in which many CIOs have already invested time and effort, but which warrant another look because of new developments or opportunities.
The top 10 technology trends for 2013 include:
“The elements of postdigital will play an important role and fundamentally reshape businesses. Every industry may be affected by the underlying digital forces. Every market may be reshaped by their controlled collision. The mobile explosion in the consumer world cannot be denied. ” Patrick Laurent explains.
