US Treasury and Switzerland sign an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) - 19/02/2013 |
On 14 February 2013, Switzerland and the United States signed an Intergovernmental Agreement (“IGA”) for the implementation of FATCA. This is the first Model II IGA agreement to be signed with the U.S. and brings the total number of signed IGAs to five.
In this respect, please find enclosed the news alert prepared by our US colleagues highlighting the main aspects of the agreement.
We expect that many other countries will enter into an IGA agreement in the near future, as there are several jurisdictions actively engaged in IGA discussions, exploring options for an IGA or holding preliminary meetings.
