Drs. Annabelle Birnie, Director Corporate Sponsoring, Art Management and Events – ING
Annabelle Birnie was born in 1968 and has a distinguished career in art. After her studies at the University of Utrecht where she obtained her degree in art policy and management and her studies at the Institut d’Etudes Supérieures des Arts in Paris, she acquired her certificate as an EU(17025) Certified Valuer of Modern and Contemporary Art.
Birnie has been working for many years at renowned art galleries and institutions in Europe, including Sotheby’s where she headed the modern and Contemporary Art Department in Amsterdam. She published numerous articles and catalogues on modern artists and has been advisor to important private and institutional art collectors.
Since 2011 Birnie is director Corporate Sponsoring, Art Management and Events at ING. From 2003, she was Director Art Management ING Group and responsible for the procurement and maintenance of the ING Collection worldwide. Birnie started as senior curator of ING Art Management in the year 2000. The Art Advisory Service for (International) Private Banking clients as part of the ING Art Management activities was initiated by Birnie and became a widely acknowledged and appreciated Service.
Annabelle Birnie is a Board member of the GemeenteMuseum in The Hague and the Foundation Jan van der Vossen. She chairs the Board of the Art Academy Wackers in Amsterdam and is member of the Advisory Board of the Foundation and privately owned museum Nihon no Hanga in Amsterdam and Atelier van Lieshout. She takes part in several art jury’s and vetting committees of Art Fairs.
