In 1996, Rachel completed a First-class Honours Bachelor’s degree on Economics and Econometrics at the University of Kent at Canterbury, in the UK. She completed a Masters in Finance and Econometrics in 1998, and then went on to complete her PhD on Risk Management in International Financial Markets at Erasmus University, Rotterdam in 2001.
Rachel works at Tilburg University as an Associate Professor of Finance and at the University of Maastricht as an Assistant Professor of Finance. She is a leading scholar in Art Finance, and alternative investments, such as emotional assets. She works in the areas of behavioural finance, risk management, sustainability and asset pricing.
Her work has been published in a number of international Journals, including the Journal of International Money and Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, Financial Analysts Journal, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Portfolio Management, Journal of Risk, and Derivatives Weekly.
Rachel is a CENTRE fellow at Tilburg University and a METEOR fellow at Maastricht University. She teaches Capital Markets and Investment Management for Tias Business School and Financial Research Methods at Maastricht University. She has taught on Euromoney financial trainings on art investment and works as an independent economic advisor for The Fine Art Fund in London, and for Emotional Assets Management and Research, in the UK. She has recently been appointed as the Director of the International Institute of Art Finance.
