A general meeting of the partners of the Luxembourg firm Deloitte, held on 24 September, unanimously elected a new Managing Partner, Yves Francis. His four-year renewable term of office will begin on the day following 31 May 2010, the date on which the final term of office of the current Managing Partner, Maurice Lam, comes to an end.
Yves Francis is 42 years old and of Belgian nationality. He is a graduate of the University of Liège (HEC-ULG), and holds an MBA from the University of London. He began his career as a corporate auditor with Deloitte in 1990. Following a period with JP Morgan Asset Management from 1997 to 2001, he returned to Deloitte, where he has been responsible in particular for structuring and developing the firm’s professional services for the fund industry. Deloitte is now one of the leading consultants in this industry.
For Maurice Lam, this choice represents a logical succession to the firm’s former leaders, perhaps: “We naturally chose a candidate with multidisciplinary skills spanning the fields of audit and consultancy, who is from our firm and has successfully met the challenges faced by industry. Our market and the financial centre have undergone tremendous developments since my appointment in 2000. It is a highly complex, highly technical and highly volatile environment. In order to continue to identify with our clients and take up their challenges, it is essential to have thorough knowledge of the issue they face. This has a direct impact on our development strategy and on day-to-day management of the firm.”
