Press release: Deloitte Luxembourg’s Audit Impact Day at the Centre de Convalescence Emile MayrichDOWNLOAD |
In line with Deloitte Luxembourg’s corporate social responsibility initiative, Deloitte S.A. and the Luxembourg Red Cross have organised a whole day of charitable activities: the Audit Impact Day 2010, gathering more than 200 volunteers, was held at the Centre de Convalescence Emile Mayrich in Luxembourg.
The Centre de Convalescence Emile Mayrich was turned into a recovery centre by the Luxembourg Red Cross after having been entrusted with the Chateau de Colpach in 1947 in order to give patients from various hospitals a place of peace and calm to recover. The Luxembourg Red Cross increased the capacity and facilities of the centre in 1954 and 1997.
This year, to help with the renovations and maintenance of the centre, 19 teams, of around 12 members and 1 team leader each, were formed from the audit department at Deloitte.
Throughout the afternoon, certain teams restored the terrace, the cabin, the small island and the bridge, trimmed the hedges and trees, cleared the weeds, while other teams developed a path from the walkway to the cabin and terrace and removed logs from a site.
Deloitte Luxembourg’s corporate social responsibility initiative in collaboration with the Luxembourg Red Cross was first launched in 2009, during which the Keltenhaus in Neuhäusgen was newly furbished.
‘We feel that this initiative is in compliance with our corporate social responsibility policy, which consists of a number of projects, such as supporting fair trade products, gender equality, ethical conduct, etc.’ states Frédéric Sabban, coordinator of the corporate social responsibility at Deloitte Luxembourg.
