Similarly to last year, Deloitte Luxembourg’s Audit teams chose to participate in a community initiative.
Over 260 members spent Friday afternoon clearing 30 kilometres of the banks of the River Sûre. This Impact Day was organised in conjunction with the nature and forest authorities (ANF) in Gilsdorf.
"We all rolled up our sleeves and the outcome was more than we had hoped for, collecting 4.335 tons of debris, the majority of which was metallic and plastic waste, which is known to be harmful for both plants and wildlife living in and around rivers", confirms George Kioes, Partner at the Audit Department and coordinator of this event.
"This event is part of our corporate social responsibility policy. Indeed, we have chosen to make a concrete commitment on issues relating to environmental protection, thus it was only natural for us to get in touch with the ANF and offer them our help", explains Elisabeth Layer, Partner in the Audit Department and member of Deloitte Luxembourg's CSR committee.
Deloitte Luxembourg has a large number of corporate social responsibility initiatives which have been recognised and rewarded with the Socially Responsible Business label, awarded by Luxembourg's national institute for sustainable development and corporate responsibility (INDR).
