World Day for Cultural Diversity 2013

Do One Thing for Diversity and Inclusion

World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development is 21 May 2013. To celebrate this year, Deloitte is asking people and organizations around the world to take action to support diversity and the UN campaign to #DoOneThing for Diversity and Inclusion. Learn more about the UN campaign and how nearly 200,000 diverse individuals across the member firm network bring Deloitte’s shared value of strength from cultural diversity to life.

DTTL CEO Barry Salzberg wants you to Do One Thing for Diversity and Inclusion

Actions speak louder than words. That’s why Deloitte has been celebrating World Day for Cultural Diversity since 2009 and has joined and is asking you to support the UN campaign to #DoOneThing for Diversity and Inclusion. The 2013 campaign, by encouraging people and organizations to take concrete action to support diversity, aims:

  • To raise awareness worldwide about the importance of intercultural dialogue, diversity, and inclusion
  • To build a world community of people committed to supporting diversity with real, everyday-life gestures
  • To combat polarization and stereotypes to improve understanding and cooperation among people from different cultures

Everyone can do one thing for diversity and inclusion. Visit a museum about a different culture. Eat food from another country. Talk to people from other cultures about their life experiences and points of view. Then go to the UN campaign Facebook page, “like” the campaign, and post or like a diversity story. Help spread the word by downloading the Do One Thing brochure.
